We held a discussion about the March issue of Words Without Borders (Writing from Venezuela). This issue includes several short stories and poems by Venezuelan writers in both the Spanish original and English translation, placed in the context of the country’s ongoing political crisis. Sunday, May 4, 2:30 p.m. Monthly meeting: Nancy Arbuthnot discussed a trilingual translation experience of translating Vietnamese poet Le Pham Le into English for a trilingual edition (Vietnamese, English, Japanese) and traveling to Japan for the book launch.

Sunday, Oct. 13, 2:30pm. At this meeting, Katherine E. Young presented Poems by Inna Kabysh a dual-language iPad edition of Kabysh’s poetry that includes text, audio, and video forthcoming from Artist’s Proof Editions in 2014. Young also discussed "What Is to Be Done?," remarks on translation theory and practice originally presented at the "Translator's Coven" conference of Russian-language translators held at Oxford University (UK) in June 2013.
